Greg Hersly, Managing Director

Greg Hersly was appointed Managing Director of Alpine Commercial Capital to help manage the company's rapid growth and expansion. Mr. Hersly has assumed a leading role in managing Alpine's day-to-day operations.

Prior to joining Alpine, Mr. Hersly was Vice President at Epic Partners, a private equity firm focused on investing in education and training companies. Mr. Hersly monitored and supported the firm's portfolio companies, analyzed investment opportunities and negotiated/structured leveraged buyouts, growth equity and structured equity investments. Previously, he was an Associate at Yazam, a $100mm venture capital fund, where he made principal investments in technology oriented companies. Mr. Hersly began his career as an Investment Banker in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and the Corporate Strategy Group at Salomon Smith Barney.

Mr. Hersly serves on the Board of Directors of Helma Institute. He is currently an Executive Officer of mREN (Manhattan Real Estate Network), an organization dedicated to real estate professionals in the New York metro area. Mr. Hersly is a founder and on the Board of Directors of NYPEN (The New York Private Equity Network), a not-for-profit education and networking organization for private equity professionals in the New York metropolitan area with more than 800 active members representing over 350 local private equity firms.

Mr. Hersly graduated cum laude from Cornell University, where he received a B.S. in Economics and Business Management.

Balram Kakkar, Managing Director

Balram Kakkar is Managing Director of Alpine Commercial Capital. Mr. Kakkar is also a Principal in Pan Am Mortgage, a residential mortgage firm which employs more than 100 people, and has served as Chief Executive Officer since inception in 2001. Mr. Kakkar closed in excess of $300 million of loan transactions in 2004.

Mr. Kakkar has been practicing law since 1991, most recently at Kakkar & Kadish, a practice he helped start in 1994. Mr. Kakkar received his BA with honors from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has a JD from University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Kakkar was a Morehead Scholar and is a member of the New York, Connecticut and District of Columbia Bars.
