Joshua B. Zegen, President & CEO

Josh Zegen is founder of Alpine Commercial Capital and serves President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Zegen is also a Principal in Pan Am Mortgage, a residential mortgage firm which employs more than 100 people, and has served as President since inception in 2001.

Before entering the real estate business, Mr. Zegen was a Senior Associate with Yazam, a $100mm venture capital fund backed by Texas Pacific Group and The Carlyle Group, where he made principal investments in technology oriented companies. Previously, Mr. Zegen worked as an Investment Banker in Salomon Smith Barney's Financial Sponsors/Private Equity group where he focused on leveraged buyouts, equity/debt financings, mergers & acquisitions and private placement transactions. Mr. Zegen began his career as a financial analyst in Merrill Lynch's Debt Capital Markets division where he executed both mortgage backed and asset backed debt offerings.

Mr. Zegen is a founder and board member of NYPEN (The New York Private Equity Network), the leading not-for-profit education and networking organization for private equity professionals in the New York metropolitan area. Additionally, Mr. Zegen is President and co-founder of the Brandeis Entrepreneurs Network.

Mr. Zegen graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a B.A. in Economics.

Greg Hersly, Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer

Greg Hersly was appointed Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer of Alpine Commercial Capital to help manage the company's rapid growth and expansion. Mr. Hersly has assumed a leading role in managing Alpine's day-to-day operations and developing strategic alliances.

Prior to joining Alpine, Mr. Hersly was Vice President at Epic Partners, a private equity firm focused on investing in education and training companies. Mr. Hersly monitored and supported the firm's portfolio companies, analyzed investment opportunities and negotiated/structured leveraged buyouts, growth equity and structured equity investments. Previously, he was an Associate at Yazam, a $100mm venture capital fund, where he made principal investments in technology oriented companies. Mr. Hersly began his career as an Investment Banker in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group and the Corporate Strategy Group at Salomon Smith Barney.

Mr. Hersly serves on the Board of Directors of Helma Institute. Mr. Hersly is a founder and on the Board of Directors of NYPEN (The New York Private Equity Network), a not-for-profit education and networking organization for private equity professionals in the New York metropolitan area with more than 800 active members representing over 350 local private equity firms.

Mr. Hersly graduated cum laude from Cornell University, where he received a B.S. in Economics and Business Management.

Balram Kakkar, Managing Director

Balram Kakkar is Managing Director of Alpine Commercial Capital. Mr. Kakkar is also a Principal in Pan Am Mortgage, a residential mortgage firm which employs more than 100 people, and has served as Chief Executive Officer since inception in 2001. Mr. Kakkar closed in excess of $300 million of loan transactions in 2004.

Mr. Kakkar has been practicing law since 1991, most recently at Kakkar & Kadish, a practice he helped start in 1994. Mr. Kakkar received his BA with honors from University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has a JD from University of Virginia School of Law. Mr. Kakkar was a Morehead Scholar and is a member of the New York, Connecticut and District of Columbia Bars.

Eli Wolfhagen, Vice President
Eli Wolfhagen is a Vice President at Alpine Commercial Capital specializing in the financing of multifamily buildings, shopping centers, office buildings and construction projects. Mr. Wolfhagen's analytical and mathematical expertise is utilized as head of underwriting for Alpine's Capital Finance and Investment Banking divisions. Mr. Wolfhagen has transacted on over $500 million in commercial real estate transactions during his tenure at Alpine.

Mr. Wolfhagen graduated cum laude from Brandeis University with a B.A. in mathematics, receiving numerous accolades including the Bertha and Nathan Richter and Ernest Grunwald Award for mathematical research. Additionally, Mr. Wolfhagen graduated from New York University with an M.S. in mathematics. Mr. Wolfhagen is a member of NYPEN Real Estate and the Manhattan Real Estate Network (mREN).
